The Moody Center – Let Us Pray Tour App

The Moody Center Prayer Walk Tour app is a self-guided tour of The Moody Center in Northfield, Massachusetts. It is adapted from the Prayer Walk Guide that was written to accomplish the same task.

Main Features

The primary navigation is the bottom navigation tab bar. This tab bar provides access to the major features of the app:

  • CONTENTS – Tour topics/sites are listed in order, but can be listened to/visited in any order the user chooses. Tapping a tour topic will start the audio for that topic.
  • AUDIO – The tour automatically starts playing when a tour topic is selected. There are controls to pause, play, backup 30 seconds, go forward 30 seconds, and go to the previous or next tour. The audio track Time, percent complete, and the track progress are also desplayed.
  • MAP – Displays a PDF map of the Moody Center campus. Each toure site is marked on the map and associated with a site number. This tour site number is the same as the tour topic number in the CONTENTS list.
  • GUIDE – Displays the printed narrative of the Let Us Pray tour. When accesed the section of the currently playing topic is displayed.
  • LOCATION – Is an interactive map of your current location and the eight Moody Center tour sites, (plus the Moody Visitor’s Center Marker). Each site location is indicated by ‘red’ Map site icon. This feature provided real-time direction from site to site.
  • RESOURCES – Provides web links to the following Moody Center resources, Donate, About Moody Center, D.L. Moody Quotes, Moody Center Articles, and Connect With Moody Center.

Android

  1. Download and install the latest version of Android Studio here (Download Android Studio).
  2. Download the Moody Center Let Us Pray Tour app source code here (Download File) and unzip the file.
  3. Open the file in Android Studio, perform any nessary software updates, build the project and relolve any build issues.

Programming Language – Kotlin

The Android version of the app is coded in Kotlin the language reference manual and outer documentation are located here (Kotlin Docs).

iOS

  1. Download and install the latest version of XCODE from the Apple app store (Download XCODE).
  2. Download the Let Up Pray (iOS) source code .zip file (Download File) and unzip the file.
  3. Open the file in Xcode. Be sure to open the ‘TheMoodyCenter.xcworkspace’ because there are several ‘pods’ that need to be installed.
  4. Build the file and resolve any build issues.
